Oberlin Square Cuff
To create this cuff, Nina pierced the original quilt square's shape into metal sheet, then drilled holes into metal and used real embroidery thread to hand stitch the thread into the cuff. Using this technique she was able to keep the fabric elements in the final fully metal design. This cuff is part of the Women's Work collection, inspired by traditional quilting.
The Oberlin Square is one of quilting's most recognizable designs, this traditional motif was named after Oberlin College, the first American college to admit black students in 1835 and the first to allow women to receive a Bachelor's degree in 1841.
